Hang Seng Management College (HSMC) is a tertiary institution in Hong Kong that places emphasis on business studies and the humanities. It is our belief that in addition to scholarship and moral development, our students should broaden their horizons and be insightful and far-sighted to meet new challenges in the ever-changing world of innovation.
It is against this background that we have established the Institute for Chinese Language and Culture (ICLC). The institute will be devoted to the promotion of business ethics and Chinese culture on the one hand, and scholarship, moral excellence and academic exchanges on the other. It aims to develop individuals who have a good command of Putonghua and a high level of cultural literacy. With a wide range of culture courses offered by the departments of Chinese and general education, we promote moral education and the gradual integration of traditional Chinese virtues into business practice to help create a caring society.
Development Plan and Upcoming Projects
We have set up the following centres under the ICLC to enhance the overall development of the College, facilitate its global exchanges at the institute level, and establish its international reputation. They are (1) the Centre for Business Ethics and Culture, (2) the Chinese Language Teaching Centre and (3) Putonghua Education and Assessment Centre.
The College attaches great importance to the teaching and learning of Chinese (Cantonese and Mandarin) and English and set up the Institute for Chinese Language and Culture (ICLC). The 2000-square-foot area, with a capacity of 50-60 persons, is equipped with basic equipment such as computers and television sets and is perfect for small-scale academic seminars.
